Doris Lessing on Learning
My commonplace notes
Today’s commonplace quote is from the Mathematical and Educational Quotation Server:
“That is what learning is. You suddenly understand something you’ve understood all your life, but in a new way.”
—Doris Lessing
Hooray! The Math and Education Quote Server is back. Or perhaps it has been there all along, and it’s only now that I discovered the new address.
This happens when people and organizations rearrange their websites. Suddenly, a favorite link no longer works, and a piece of internet culture gets lost. But like the shepherd who found his lost sheep, today I’m celebrating.
I think I’ll spend the afternoon browsing for new commonplace quotes.
This Week on My Let’s Play Math Blog
[If you’re reading this late, the “Math Game Monday” and “Thinking Thursday” posts have a time limit. Each one stays on my blog for about a month, and then falls away, replaced by new games and journaling prompts. You can always find the newest posts at DeniseGaskins.com/blog.]
In Writing News
The edits for Charlotte Mason’s Living Math are in, so now I’m working corrections into my current manuscript file. Flipping through edit notes, comparing various file updates.
Then the final check: Listen to the book in a text-to-speech app, to make sure my changes haven’t introduced new problems. It’s so easy to create a glitch when you cut-and-paste text.
Have you noticed that, too, or is it just my own awkwardness?
That means we’re one step closer to the final book. Next step: page layout...
